Colophon Resin esters (Gum Rosin Esters) are Glycerol esters (Resin esters =Glycerol ester resins), Products obtained as a result of the heterogeneous reaction of Gum Rosin with alcohols in the presence of a heterogeneous catalyst .Gum is obtained by esterification of rosin with glycerol at high temperature.Resin esters (Glycerol ester resins) have a higher softening point, lower acid value and higher thermal resistance than natural resins (Gum Rosin).

Glycerol Ester Resins have a very wide range of uses. They vary according to the levels of resin acids contained in the glycerol ester resin composition.The most important two of these Glycerol Ester Resins are; Pentaerythritol Esters and Triethylene Glycol Esters.

Pentaerythritol Esters are obtained as a result of the esterification reaction of Gum Rosine with Pentaerythritol.

Pentaerythritol Ester Resins can be used as a substitute for aromatic or aliphatic hydrocarbon resins. It is also suitable for Use in adhesives, hotmelt adhesives and PSA adhesives.

They have good resistance to yellowing and heat. Compatible with natural and synthetic rubbers, Penta ester resins are well soluble in Esters, ethers, ketones, aromatic and aliphatic solvents.
